| Cannon Snails |
The Cannon Snails are enemies who appear at Waterloo World in Psychonauts. These are a secondary type of soldiers of Napoleon Bonaparte, only seen at the overworld of the game board; and they consist of tall men wearing an iron armored shell that can summon a deadly cannon from the inside that shoots at their targets.
Appearance[]
Skipping the shell, just like the French Soldiers, the Cannon Snails are human-like figures which the only part of their bodies that proves this is their exaggerated long legs, which wears blue pants and a pair of black boots. Speaking of the most notorious element of these characters, they wear a big snail metallic shell with spikes on the side, a fuse at the top-back of the shell, their front part has a French mustache and a hole where two reddish orange eyes can be viewed.
Inside this shell they have stored a large cannon which peeks from the shell once the fuse is set on fire. While it was mention their only human parts revealed are their legs, sometimes when aiming at Razputin with their cannons, they release one of their hands that wears a blue coat and has a similar color skin as the Censors.
Strategy[]
Cannon Snails along with Shouting Censors are enemies that have a long range of attack, although difference being that the level 2 Censors projectile go on a straight line while the cannonball of the snails goes on a curved path just like a catapult. Shielding at the right moment is a good option to avoid damage, but if trying to get rid of these enemies, the main step is once again shielding or even approaching them with Invisibility. Once done that hit them with PSI-Punch and then either set them on fire with Pyrokinesis which provokes that their cannon explodes and self-destructs the Cannon Snail or use Telekinesis to drop them into the water, making them sink and drown thanks to their heavy armor and lack of swim.
Trivia[]
- Using Clairvoyance on the Cannon Snails will reveal that they view Raz as a big leaf with his face on it.
- The Cannon Snails are added into to the list of enemies along with Stage Actors, Lungfish Navy, the enemies of Meat Circus and the G-Men that are exclusive of one mind only.
- There’s a 1% probability that if using Confusion at the right moment when the Cannon Snails set their fuse on fire they can self-destruct.
- If listening carefully to the sounds they produce, it can be heard that they use some of the voice clips of Napoleon though high-pitched.
- Part of the model which involves the arm and hand could have been extracted from the Shouting Censor since it looks identical.
- Old promotional images shows that these snails had a more bronze color instead of the grayish mixed with blue and purple of the final game.
