Cow Piece |
Not to be confused with Edgar the cow.
–Raz, talking to a cow.
The Cows are characters only seen at Waterloo World. Their appearance only happens when Razputin revisits the level upon completion. The cow piece doesn't serve a game purpose, however Raz can still use Telekinesis and move it around the board. The cow also appears in the Psychonauts recap animation at the beginning of Psychonauts 2.
Appearance[]
The Cows Pieces resembles literal and real cows, with the main difference being the cartoony look they feature which is: the wacky positioning of the eyes (left being a little higher than the right one) and the more squared-shape of the body and head, combined with the cone-shaped limbs. Most strikingly, unlike any other game pieces, the Cow Pieces have a wooden platform resembling to grass and dirt.
Gameplay[]
These game pieces debut after completing the game of Waterloo-O and giving a revisit to the mind. Their positions are according to the houses of each of the peasants; might imply that these animal figures are what only remain in the area of their livestock’s after the war. They don’t serve much purpose other than staying in there and eating grass, however by interacting with them he’ll tell a story to them about the events occured in there and that the only thing left of those who fought are the cows themselves.
Trivia[]
- The model of the cow was repurposed for Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin with Edgar the cow, however modifying the position of the head a little, the size of the horns and an upgrade of the model and textures.
- The Cow Pieces only make sound when Confusion is used into them or while carrying them with Telekinesis.
- Hitting a cow will result in Raz saying, "This is how it was in the war."
- If the Cow is punched again Raz will say, "And that!"
- The cow pieces are technically a remanent of an early iteration for Waterloo. This also explains more why their simplistic design compared to the rest of the game board pieces.
