Hearty Knight |
The Hearty Knight is a game piece character that appears in Waterloo World. He can be recruited into Raz’s militia at any point, with the only requirement being that he gets his food; in other words bringing him some fresh escargots. Once recruited and defeating each of the French Soldiers, he can be used to capture Napoleon's stronghold.
Appearance[]
The Hearty Knight is an overweight knight. He wears a golden suit of armor with a large "F" emblazoned on the chestplate (an indication of being part of Fred’s army). His pants and sleeves are brownish-yellow, with a checkerboard pattern style, his gloves are a "Dark Brown" color and lastly he carries around Fred’s battle flag and a yellow dagger at all times. His helmet visor is always lifted on top of his head, and like any other game piece, he stands on a highly decorated wooden platform with a large "F" on each sides of it, again symbolizing the first letter of the name of his leader.
Psychonauts[]
While in Waterloo World, Raz is told by Napoleon that he needs someone to storm the stronghold to win the game. However, the only person left in town is the Hearty Knight; and unfortunately, the Knight refuses to go anywhere until he is given an excellent dish of escargots. Once Raz brings him what he needs and wants to make his way into the stronghold, the knight comes out of the restaurant which by the way is where he resides for most of the game unless his food is given in early points of the level and finishes this long lasting game by storming the stronghold with the mighty tapping of his spoon.
Personality[]
The Hearty Knight seems quite the gluttonous type of person, notorious when talking about storming the stronghold and putting it like if he is gonna eat it all; additionally he seems to enjoy to a huge level excellent French cuisines but also shows a big despise at any food that he deems "simple", such as "beef on toast". He talks in a pompous manner.
Quotes[]
- (Initial Conversation): "Sorry! I can’t storm Napoleon’s stronghold today. Too weak."
- (Following Dialogue 1): "No, I’m not sick. I just can’t find any decent food around here. An army moves on its stomach, you know. An elite force such as I require an elite cuisine, I’m afraid."
- (Following Dialogue 2): "Only the best, young lad. I am a Frenchman, and anything but the finest French delicacy might bruise my palette, and leave me unable to storm anything, save the vomitorium."
- (Alternate Conversation): "Ooh, that sounds like a grand plan, sir. But not on an empty stomach."
- (Following Dialogue 1): "I’m sure you understand."
- (Showing him the Coin): "Oh, how I wish there were a gourmet restaurant in town so that I may take that coin and buy myself a fine meal."
- (Showing him the Musket): "Excellent. Now take that gun and go shoot me a fine game pheasant, then bring it to my favorite chef in Paris--"
- (Following Dialogue 1): "Oooh, I can’t believe I spoke the name of that dish!"
- (Showing him the Fred’s Letter): "Not enough to feed his troops anything but chipped beef on toast."
- (Following Dialogue 1): "Oooh, I can’t believe I spoke the name of that dish!"
- (Bringing him the Escargots): "I haven’t had escargot like that since the Duchess’ birthday. But even those were not so full of… spirit!"
- (Following Dialogue 1): "I am truly inspired. Come, let us storm Napoleon’s stronghold and win this game for Fred Bonaparte!"
- (Following Dialogue 2): "But do hurry. I believe I may be hungry again soon."
- (Attempt to move towards a French Soldier): "I would love to slay that enemy soldier, but I am afraid I must save all of my energy for the stronghold. I have only eaten enough to last me through one great struggle, you see."
- (Using any offensive PSI-Powers into him): "Oof!"
- (Direct Conversation): "Game?"
- (Following Dialogue 1): "Yes! The stronghold’s wall is thick! But I shall crack it open! Like a shell! And I will rip that shell off, and… and sauté it… in butter! And eat it and gorge to my heart’s delight."
- (Following Dialogue 2): "Right. well, just move me over there and take that snail!"
- (Following Dialogue 3): "Stronghold!"
- (Directly interacting with objects): "Please, do not distract me, for now my only thought is of storming that stronghold!"
- (Victory Dialogue): "HA HA HA! Your walls are no thicker than the crust of a crème brûlée!"
- (Following Dialogue 1): "Behold the mighty tapping of my spoon!"
- (Following Dialogue 2): "Ahhhhhh!"
- (Using Confusion into him): "oooh… Ooohhh…"
Trivia[]
- The knight views Raz as a waiter when Clairvoyance is used on him.
- Although the line he bellows once he storms the Stronghold is "Behold the mighty tapping of my spoon!", he actually carries a dagger instead.
- Before meeting the Hearty Knight in person, Ford Cruller when being summoned with the Bacon predicts that he’s a fat person thanks to his voice.
- "We gotta get some fancy food for that fat guy to eat.", Ford says "You didn’t even see him. How do you know he’s fat?", Raz responds, and which leads to Ford answering with a: "He sounds fat."
- Unlike the rest of the other pieces, it is unknown what’s the aftermath for the Hearty Knight. It is presumed that he could now reside in the once owned stronghold of Napoleon.
