Motherlobe Lobby

The Motherlobe Lobby, also known as the Atrium, is the central hub room inside the Motherlobe.

Description[]

The Lobby is a large oval room with an elevator to the Reception area in its center. Halls on all sides of the room lead to various other wings of the building. Several of the Motherlobe's facilities are directly connected to the lobby for convenient access, including Noodle Bowl, its cafeteria; Astral Lanes, a recreational bowling alley; and Ford's hair salon. Additionally, the glass corridor on the floor above the Lobby has round portholes for psychic employees to easily Levitate through, allowing further access to other parts of the headquarters. Notable features of the lobby include the Psychonauts' interactive history exhibit, and the large mural of the Psychic Six that adorns its back wall. The lobby also has some floating seating areas, which are again most easily reached using Levitation—though by using the Thought Tuner, Razputin can pick up on stray thoughts in the area and grapple onto those using Mental Connection to get up there as well.

Role in Psychonauts 2[]

The Motherlobe's Lobby is the first area accessible past reception, and therefore the first real look at the Psychonauts' headquarters Razputin gets upon arriving and being accepted as an intern. It serves as the hub area for most of his activity in the building. The Lobby is also where Razputin drops the package holding Nick Johnsmith's brainless body, whereupon the Psychonauts find the key to a suite in the Lady Luctopus and prepare to go on a mission to the casino.

The Motherlobe Lobby, or at least a memory of it, makes another notable appearance in Bob Zanotto's mind. A memory version of it that is overgrown and partially flooded is part of the area that represents Bob's painful memories of being fired by his nephew Truman for causing an accident while drunk on the job. There are various figments in this area that look like other drunk Psychonauts, perhaps suggesting that drinking is part of the office culture at the Motherlobe.
