–- Lighthouse Ford
Lighthouse Ford is a mental figure that appears in the Ford's Follicles fragment of Ford's Fractured Mind in Psychonauts 2. He is a large talking lighthouse who resembles Ford Cruller.
Appearance[]
Lighthouse Ford is a talking lighthouse, whose lantern room looks like a mechanical version of Ford's head, with searchlights for eyes. The tower portion of his "body" is mainly white with a helix of rotating blue and red stripes, resembling a barber's pole. Seen from up close, it becomes clear that much of the tower is actually made out of braided, colored hair.
Razputin can enter into the base of the lighthouse, where several barrels of hair oil and large combs are kept. A set of stairs lead to the window on the side of the tower, from where he can walk further up on its outside walls to reach the lantern room, or in other words, the inside of Lighthouse Ford's head. Much like Bowling Pin Ford and Ford-Bot, the inside of his head is grotesquely realistic with visible muscles, jawbones, a pair of teeth and a tongue. It contains a tiny brain that houses one of Ford's Mental Shards.
Description[]
This mental figure towers over Ford's Follicles, keeping an eye on the entire area without being able to affect it directly. He seems to regularly confuse people's identities. As a part of Ford's Mind, he most likely represents Ford's feelings at the time in his life Ford's Follicles is centered around: he wanted to guide Lucrecia back to the right path, but was unable to do much of anything. At the same time, it's becoming hard for him to recognize the Lucrecia he knew at all in the person she's now become.
In Psychonauts 2[]
Lighthouse Ford notices Razputin as soon as the boy sets foot in Ford's Follicles, and he tells him he could use a haircut, that he'd come out looking "like a whole new person"—just not to overdo it lest his old friends become unable to recognize him as the same person. Raz decides the lighthouse is most likely the location of the Mental Shard he's after to fix Ford's Mind, and gets moving through the landscape to get closer to it. In the process, Raz drowns several groups of Lice, which causes the lighthouse discomfort. He also calls Raz "Lucy" several times. In the end, Raz makes it up the lighthouse, though not before it becomes cloaked in thunderclouds, and enters its head to recover the Mental Shard inside.
