The Maidens are mental figures who inhabit in Black Velvetopia, mind of Edgar Teglee. They’re one of the many residents who live in fear under the presence of El Odio.

Background

Judging by the fact most of Black Velvetopia’s elements are romanticized or confabulated versions of Edgar’s high school memories, it can be interpreted that these ladies are loosely based off the cheerleading squad where Lana (Lampita) used to be at. Since Edgar can’t remember how they entirely look, they’re only visible as floating arms with brown eyes.

A total of four of them are seen throughout the entirety of Black Velvetopia; two on the Queen of Clubs part of the street, one in the Queen of Hearts and the last in the Queen of Diamonds section. They’ll have their windows open until El Odio or Raz approaches them; using a rose or getting inside with Invisibility will help to hide from the constant rampage of the bull. The most beneficial is seducing them with the rose, they’ll kiss Raz, which consequently heals him rapidly if damaged or low on health.

Appearance

Most of the Maidens’ appearances are never shown in its entirety, only their arms and their eyes when peeking from the shutters. Their skins are of a purple color, on their waists they wear yellow with orange bracelets and they carry a hand fan. They have brown eyes and after seducing them, red lips will come from the windows, representing kissing into the air to welcome Raz back inside their homes.

Trivia

• When interacting with the maidens while their windows are closed, will make Raz say desperately to let him inside.
• Using Clairvoyance on the Maidens shows Raz as a vagabond, but if the boy is holding a rose, they’ll see him as a prince.
  • The other character who sees Raz as a prince in this game is Lili Zanotto.
• If paying attention to their voice sounds, they’ll mostly say gibberish.
