Nightmare Maligula is a mental figure in PSI King's Sensorium and technically a mid-boss in Psychonauts 2. She represents Helmut's past trauma and also a Nightmare constructed of all dark memories develop by the Battle of Grulovia and his inability to help in said battle.

Psychonauts 2

At the PSI King's Sensorium most of the world has the premise of Helmut retrieving his senses of self, after lacking a body for about 20 years. Once Razputin helps him with finding each and one of the instruments of the Feast of the Senses, by consequent of retrieving his memories, the deepest and most obscure memory of his mind springs too, in the shape of Maligula. She comes out from a memory vault during the final concert, terrorizing Helmut and everyone around.

She triggers Helmut by confronting him about his innermost fears of why he was abandoned by those who he called his friends Psychic Seven, successfully makes him return back to his 'Mote of Light' form and inside the void of a Memory Vault. After Raz clears most of his doubts and makes him come in terms with his memories about the events of the past mentioned war, Helmut faces Nightmare Maligula and for that and in order to stop her from destroying the show, him along with the five senses subdues her using Time Bubble while Raz knocks her back until he finishes her off.

She doesn’t have much going on in her fight since she will always stay immobilized. Most PSI-Powers work on her and it is highly recommended to use ranged abilities in the last point where she stands floating in the middle of the audience. The amount of hits she can receive in total are 7 (6 the first two times she moves from place to place in the stage and 1 when she moves into the audience).

Attacks and Health

• Serpents of suffocation: Like the real Maligula, Nightmare Maligula can create living water-shaped snakes that follows her instructions. Said serpents can jump towards an specific target and suffocate it with their deadly bite.
• Teleportation: Thanks to be a shadowy figure she can move from place to place by teleporting herself wherever she wants. This is only seen after being damaged enough by Razputin.
• Levitation: She’s seen floating above the audience before being defeated and also in multiple shots where she uses her hydro-tornado as some sort of platform to make herself look imposing.
